Build a wood plank roof deck in less time and at lower cost on rooftops, plazas, terraces and garage roofs with the Archatrak Premier adjustable height pedestals.
Archatrak Premier adjustable pedestals can be supplied with a special head bracket designed to support wood joists, enabling wood or composite wood planks to be used to build a traditional style deck on a rooftop.
With pedestals spaced in rows at required intervals over the rooftop surface, wood joists are first screwed to the head bracket. After adjusting heights of the pedestals to ensure joists are level in all directions, wood or composite wood planks can then be screwed, nailed or clipped to the joists in the conventional manner.

Wood Joist Pedestals
See how adjustable pedestal systems simplify the construction of wood joist decks on rooftops and elevated surfaces. By supporting joists directly above the substrate, this approach reduces material requirements, speeds up installation, and delivers a level, durable deck assembly suited for a wide range of applications.

Guidelines for Wood Joist Heads
Before commencing any roof deck installation, it is important that the spacing of the pedestals used to support the joists, both parallel and perpendicular to the joists, is confirmed with a structural engineer prior to construction. You should also confirm that the roof deck installation complies with all relevant codes and regulations.
After laying out the pedestals with required spacing, wood joists are laid directly over the special bracket installed on the heads of Archatrak Prime pedestals and screwed to the upright bracket. The 1 ⅛” high vertical side of the bracket can be snapped off at a height of 3/4″ if required.
Archatrak Premier Pedestals feature self-leveling heads which provide automatic slope compensation up to 5% on sloping substrates. This feature ensures the joists will be aligned perfectly level with the surface of the pedestal heads. Alternatively, the heads can be locked in a fixed position with an optional head lock component inserted into the pedestal head.
After checking the joists for level in all directions, the wood or composite wood planks can then be nailed, screwed or clipped to the joists in the usual manner.
