When considering surfacing options for pool decks, porcelain rises above all other options. Because of its impermeable surface, porcelain is slip, scratch and stain resistant. It is also color-fade resistant, and of course, is far more aesthetically pleasing than other flooring options, such as concrete.
The Link, a recent project of ours, chose porcelain for these exact reasons. The project consisted of a rooftop pool deck, where both technical and aesthetic characteristics were important in choosing a surface option.
Ultimately, Shepley Bulfinch went with Archatrak pedestal supported 48″ x 16″ porcelain planks in colors Nut and Maple. The result is a stunning rooftop that overlooks the Sonoran Desert.
