What is a pedestal deck?

A pedestal deck is an elevated deck installed over a solid surface using adjustable deck supports to directly support concrete, porcelain or wood pavers. The adjustable nature of these pedestal paver systems provides a simple rooftop deck solution and deck leveling system that permits a perfectly level deck surface to be created irrespective of the underlying surface which will typically slope in one or more directions for drainage.

How do adjustable deck supports simplify rooftop deck installations?

Adjustable deck supports allow decks to be built on rooftops without the need to construct extensive support structures of wood or steel. These outdoor flooring supports also facilitate cost effective retrofit elevated deck installations as the main deck components (pavers and pedestals) are essentially a modular decking system which can be simply transported to the rooftop in a goods elevator.

Does a pedestal paver system provide an effective deck drainage solution?

Because elevated deck installations constructed with a pedestal paver system uses pavers which are not filled with grout but left open, elevated deck installations supported by adjustable deck supports allow water to flow freely off the deck surface though the gaps between the pavers. And since the deck supports are basically columns placed at defined intervals over the rooftop, they won’t obstruct or influence the drainage in any way.

Does a pedestal paver system allow easy access to the roof membrane for any necessary maintenance?

Yes. A roof top paver pedestal system enables easy access to the roof surface for maintenance purposes without dismantling the entire deck. You simply lift up a single paver or multiple pavers as needed to inspect the substrate below.

Are Archatrak ‘NM’ Series adjustable pedestals compatible with different decking materials?

Yes, the ‘NM’ Series pedestals are very versatile as outdoor flooring supports and are compatible with various decking materials. Apart from porcelain paver support, they can be used with concrete slabs, wood tiles and in some cases with natural stone. This adaptability makes the ‘NM’ pedestal paver system an ideal choice for diverse design preferences and functional requirements in both residential and commercial settings. They can also be used to support steel or aluminum rails where plank style porcelain pavers are being used or to support wood joists where a traditional wood plank deck is desired.

Can the Archatrak NM deck leveling system be used with snow melt systems?

Indeed, both our ‘Prime’ and NM series porcelain paver supports can be used with the ‘Heatizon’ electric snow melt system. You can heat just a narrow pathway or an entire deck with this system.

Can you construct a perfectly level synthetic turf deck with adjustable deck supports?

Possibly the best synthetic turf rooftop deck solution is to lay the turf on large FRP grating panels supported by adjustable deck supports. The FRP panels in conjunction with the pedestal deck leveling system provide a very stable and level surface with excellent drainage.

Five adjustable deck support sizes cover the height range from 1” to 10 5/8”.

NM2 1 ⅝” – 2 ¾”
NM3 2 ¼” – 3 ⅞”
NM4 3 ½” – 6 ¼”
NM5 5 ⅞” – 10 ⅝”

PNM Extension elements 6 ½” tall can be added to either the NM4 or NM5 deck supports to build up the height to 27 ¾” (NM5 pedestal + 3 Extensions).

At high elevations, pedestal supports should be stabilized with guy wires.
